…it doesn’t make you a shit mom. It makes you human.

So long as you can show up for your kids with presence and a heart full of love, they will be okay. You being you, being present, doing the best you can is enough.

Have you heard people speak about the window of tolerance? It’s a way to describe your capacity to be cool with what’s going on around you.

We all have a limit. An edge that we can be pushed to where we just lose our shit or become unable to rationally deal with what’s happening in our surroundings. Some of us can maintain presence and calm in a multitude of situations, some of us fall apart after receiving a stern email from a colleague.

This ability to be present, to act as the witness, to take in information and respond to people without letting it change us… that’s when we are “in the zone” and within our window of tolerance.

I invite you to think about a typical day in your life when you might have been existing outside of this window of tolerance. Maybe…

✨You experienced road rage.
✨You lost your cool with your kids.
✨You took your frustrations out on your partner.
✨You took something personally at work and it made you crumble.
✨You were stressed about a deadline and it sent you into a flat panic.

There are so many daily examples that we can look back on and think, “I could’ve done that better”.

When we take time to explore our emotions and internal mechanics with the breath, we become the witness to our own selves. We gain awareness. We learn to regulate ourselves and our emotions in a healthy way by being present with them. The more we do this, the more we increase our window of tolerance.

So, basically… breathwork helps you better deal with all the shit 💩 that life throws at you. And that, my friends, is something we all need! ☺️

As you go about your day today, notice when you become “pushed” beyond that place of being calm and grounded. If you find yourself going there, take a moment, take a few deep breaths and extend your exhale. You’ll be golden and within your window of tolerance again in minutes!

I can’t tell you how many times my fears have held me back. I’ve been captive to limiting beliefs my whole life… the voice inside my head had such nasty things to say about me.

Not smart enough.
Not good enough.
Not pretty enough.
Not young enough.
Not enough.
Not worthy… blurgh! 🤮

It’s taken me 45 years, but after making a commitment to ME, and working on owning my shit, getting out of my own way, using tools like meditation, yoga, nature, and breathwork, I can finally say I am MORE THAN ENOUGH.

I am everything.
I honour myself.
I love all that I am.
I don’t need anyone’s permission to simply be me.

So, I won’t waste any more time worrying about what people think. Oh the crippling pain that used to cause! 😢🙈
I won’t spare another second of this precious existence being too afraid to TRY.
I won’t give over my time on this earth to fear, or worry, or the feeling that I’m not allowed.

This life is mine to live and I’m going for it!❤️

I get to hang out with the most wonderful humans, and also get to welcome a whole new tribe of first-time breathers too.

It is always such an honour to lead these magnificent souls as they explore the depth of their being through the breath. It is both humbling and awe-inspiring as, together, we remember who we are and what we are truly capable of.

Research suggests that expressing gratitude and thanks enables us to live happier and more fulfilled lives. It improves our relationships, including our relationship with self.

Take a deep breath in, exhale, and feel into what it is you’re grateful for. Establishing this practice as a part of my daily breathwork and meditation has been instrumental in keeping my spirits up, even when the going gets tough.

And the going does get tough! ☺️❤️
But it will be okay in the end. x

It’s International Women’s Day, and I can hone

It’s International Women’s Day, and I can honestly say that I love being a woman! I think I’m pretty good at it too! 🤭😏

My breathwork journey has really allowed me to feel into the depth and breadth of what it means to be a woman, a mother, a wife, a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a friend. I am all those and more.

I am grace, I am strength, I am courage, but I am also softness, I am nourishment, I am love.

I have had the absolute honour of guiding other women to recognizing and owning these parts of themselves too. To seeing who they truly are. To becoming whole.

It has been the most difficult and rewarding journey, peeling back the layers on this… being woman. Being human. But it’s one I would never trade for anything.

Celebrating all women today. Celebrating me. Celebrating you!🌷

Breathing consciously… what does that even mean?

We breathe effortlessly and without thought or the need to remind ourselves. It’s one of the physiological mechanics of our bodies that is so freaking effective, that it just flows.

🌬But have you ever taken a moment to notice your breathing?
🌬To truly feel the depth of the inhale, and the way the body surrenders when you exhale?
🌬Have you ever watched the way your body rhythmically moves with your breath in a beautiful dance like the ebb and flow of the waves?

Do that now.
Take a moment to feel the breath. Does that noticing immediately make you breathe deeper and fuller?

Our day to day breathing is shallow and doesn’t use the full capacity of our lungs. By bringing awareness to this, we can breathe deep, breathe in fullness, life, energy… and breathe out stagnation, limitation, and toxicity.

By bringing awareness to it, we can truly tap into our being and explore ourselves at a depth that we might not ever have known.
